THE SEVEN CHURCHES OF REVELATION

Jesus’ letters to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea
Revelation 1–3 · Seven Letters from Jesus to His Churches

Taught by Pastor Scott Efird · Church Of Faith · Sunday sermons, February 15 – March 29, 2026

“Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is near.”

REVELATION 1:3 — KJV

The blessing this series opens with: God blesses the one who reads this prophecy to the church and all who listen and obey it, because the time is near.

Seven churches, seven letters

This series opens a study of the seven churches in Revelation. The first session begins with an introduction from Revelation chapter 1, setting out who Jesus is, what his church is for, and how he stands among his churches, before the letter to Ephesus is read. Each session after that takes up the next church in the order John names them: Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.

In every session the letter is read in full first, then taught point by point — what Jesus commends, what he corrects, and what he promises to everyone who is victorious. If you want to know what to look for in a church, or what does not belong in a church, these letters are where Jesus himself says what he approves of and what he disapproves of.

The Study — seven sessions

One sermon for each church, in the order the letters come in Revelation. Each session carries its own teaching video, the letter and the sermon's other scriptures in the reader, and the teaching in Pastor Scott's own order.
